My new Dell ROCKS!

I have been publishing the Crystal Angel Fashion Magazine from a 10 year old limited memory Dell I inherited. I have to be honest and say that it was a major hassle when working on videos and heavy graphic projects.

My school laptop is okay for getting me graduated like it did, but that is about it. I was hoping to make a teenie bit of money from the advertisers on my site, but the Great Recession kept throwing road blocks in my way. I was getting discouraged.

I always have faith and when I was asked to start working five days a week instead of my usual one or two, I jumped at the chance. My only real bills are medical ones from when I got squished, so any extra pennies I earned I decided to put away for a new computer. That day arrived on Saturday.

I love Dell, plain and simple - and when I saw that they had made a model just for Wal-Mart, I went to look at it in Montrose with Jill. I loved it. It was purrrrfect:
4 GB of memory
a 640 GB hard drive
Graphics accelerator
and Windows 7.
Intel Pentium dual-core E5500 processor
2.8GHz, 800MHz Front Side Bus, 2MB L2 Cache
18.5" diagonal LCD widescreen display
OH and it is an All-in-one meaning no big old box to lug around.
BUT the best part. It was only $498.00

Setting it up was a breeze - even for a blond like me.
I was also even to move some of my favorite programs that I use to make the magazine.
The only company that is making me buy a new one is Swish, which I use to make my videos. hmmmmph.

I would HIGHLY recommend this amazing computer for anyone on a major tight budget like me with only one suggestion: the built in speakers are not all that great so also save up your pennies for some decent speakers which only cost me $29.99.

BUMMER and a HUGE BOOOOOOO to Gov. Ritter of Colorado

Dear Colorado-based Amazon Associate:
We are writing from the Amazon Associates Program to inform you that the Colorado government recently enacted a law to impose sales tax regulations on online retailers. The regulations are burdensome and no other state has similar rules. The new regulations do not require online retailers to collect sales tax. The US Supreme Court has defined what would be constitutional, and if Colorado would repeal the current law or follow the constitutional approach to collection, we would welcome the opportunity to reinstate Colorado-based Associates.

You may express your views of Colorado's new law to members of the General Assembly and to Governor Ritter, who signed the bill.

Your Associates account has been closed as of March 8, 2010, and we will no longer pay advertising fees for customers you refer to Amazon.com after that date. Please be assured that all qualifying advertising fees earned prior to March 8, 2010, will be processed and paid in accordance with our regular payment schedule. In 2003, There.com was launched as a 3D Immersive Virtual World for everyone.
Unlike other products, There was designed from the beginning to be a welcoming and comfortable place for everyone - not just gamers, not just people over 18, not just people with high end computers, and not just people on broadband. This principle extended far beyond just the technology: for example it led to our submissions review system, which ensured that user generated content didn't infringe on existing brands, or even other member's content. To that, we added socialization tools including 3D avatar chat, clubs, events, activity flags, card games, quests, virtual commerce, kinetic games such as paintball, buggies, and, of course, hoverboards. While many of these things sound commonplace today, in 2003 we were arguably one of the first places to "put it all together" in one package.

But all of that was just a big stack of technology and hardware. It was when we added people - our members - to There.com that it actually came to life. Through you, There has been known as a vibrant, welcoming place for people to come and meet other people, have fun, create, or just hang out. Over the years, millions of folks have passed through our doors, each of you bringing something new and different to There.com, and, hopefully, taking a little bit of the fun with you back into your "real life".

By adding developers to There, we made it possible for the world to becomes millions of time more interesting and creative than it possibly could have been otherwise. Of course, the talented artists and modelers at There created an amazing world to start with, but it was your content - clothes, vehicles, accessories, buildings, lawn furniture, gnomes, snowmen, etc, etc, etc - which really helped bring the world to life, and make There the special place it is today.
Finally, to this mix, we added brands, which had a lasting and important impact on There.com. We can't list them all here, but names like Coca-Cola, CosmoGirl, Bebe, K-SWISS, and SPIN all brought their own products and influence to the world, which in turn made it an even more interesting place for people to be.

We believe that all of this together made a world which was, well, like "real life", with just the right level of unreality thrown in. Standards for speech, interaction, avatar dress, and even the amount of "blood and gore" were pretty much what you'd expect in the real world, and we believe that it's one of the many things which made There special, accessible, and attractive to people from all over the United States and the world -- not just the privileged with high-end machines and broadband connections.

Unfortunately, this also meant that There.com's customers were hardest hit by the recession, and, so was There. While our membership numbers and the number of people in the world have continued to grow, there has been a marked decrease in revenue, which, in these economic times, is no surprise.

Throughout the last year and this quarter, we have fought the good fight by churning out new features and revisions as fast as we possibly could. Our hats have to go off to the team, which have in a very short time introduced a whole new suite of casual games, a completely new foundation for our user interface, improved internal efficiencies for the product, real estate, a whole new level of Community Involvement, etc, etc. On top of that, we've revised our first user experience several times, making the whole process for registering and getting into the world (and continued to be amused when the same features appeared in other worlds).

But, at the end of the day, we can't cure the recession, and at some point we have to stop writing checks to keep the world open. There's nothing more we would like to avoid this, but There is a business, and a business that can't support itself doesn't work. Before the recession hit, we were incredibly confident and all indicators were "directionally correct" and we had every reason to believe growth would continue. But, as many of you know personally, the downturn has been prolonged and severe, and ultimately pervasive.

We're very sorry to announce that There.com will be closing to the public at 11:59 PM on March 9th, 2010.
We'll be closing registration, billing, and member program upgrades immediately.
Developer submissions are closed effectively immediately.
Rental processing will be stopped, so no more rent will be collected for neighborhoods, lots, or There homes.
Paintgun refills will be free.
Portazone refills will either be free, or we'll "stop the clock" on Portazone minutes. We'll sort that out in the next day or so.

All purchases of Therebucks and member program updates made between midnight Pacific Standard Time February 1, 2010 and 11:00 AM Pacific Standard Time on March 2, 2010 will be refunded in full. Purchases made via PayPal or Credit Card will be refunded automatically. Purchases made via PayByCash or the Ultimate Game Card will need to follow the procedure outlined in the F.A.Q. to get your refund.

We will attempt to continue a Therebucks buyback for developers as we have been. If you are a There Developer, and have Therebucks you'd like us to buy back, please follow the procedure in the F.A.Q. to request a buyback.

It's been our privilege to play a small part in making the place that was There.com, and for that we thank you. We know that There will continue to live in our hearts and minds, and hope it does in yours, too.

OMGAWD! Has it really been a month?

So much has been happening since the end of October, which has kept me away from the computer and my online responsibilities. The warm sunny weather in the first half of November simply demanded that I chase and catch as many sunbeams as possible before winter moves in for good. As of today, the much needed snow for the ski mountain refuses to fall and high 40's with clear skies makes everyone in Telluride REALLY nervous. no snow = no tourists = no MONEY!

If having amazing weather was not enough, the swine flu hit my town and I went from one day working to five. The much needed money was greatly appreciated, but once again, it really made getting the magazine done right and on time, a difficult task.

Next, I discovered how to make a totally safe and totally kewl toolbar for Moove and the Crystal Angel. I decided to do this after I found that the CABN - Crystal Angel Broadcasting Network part of our website was getting visited so often and was extremely popular.

The new Moove / Crystal Angel toolbar is 100% private, with no spam, no spyware and no adware. It is easy to enable and disable and even easier to install and uninstall.

MOOVE TOOLBAR TAB

The toolbar offers a Moove tab where you can check in with Moove and even log in safely.

It also offers direct links to the Designers in Moove, Help Sites and the Boards.

This is my favorite tab. It offers quick links to the top online tv shows and movies. It is not to replace your tv, but sometimes you are reading something on a news site and will want to get the latest CNN update; or you having a really hard day at work and need to watch a South Park episode to shake off the stress. With the CABN Remote and a slew of quicklinks, you can easily find and watch these and dozens more.

The CABN tab also allows you free entry to the Starlight Drive-in, where you can grab a date and head out to watch the best of B-Movie Drive-in.

When my friend and mentor Elizabeth asked me if I wanted to pick up the "Telluride Official Guide" which she and her husband had been running for 10 years, I jumped at the chance for easy money - Telluride is a world class ski resort, Festival Capital of the Rockies and one of the richest towns in America. I knew I was going to make millions.

But when I found out that no one in Telluride was interested in advertising during the Great Recession with an Avatar run web site, and that the crash had left many businesses barely able to pay rent, much less advertise online, I got major discouraged.

Having only lived in Telluride for 18 months, I found it very hard to totally fit in and my discouragement only grew when I began to read the comment section of a local newspapers web site. These angry locals did not know me, but they felt the need to unfairly warn people of our web site and implied other hateful things about me (see the Crystal Angel Blog) and just about everyone anywhere - all anonymously of course.......and I thought the Moove Boards got out of hand...LOL.

After feeling blue one day over how mean people who live in the most beautiful place on the planet can be, Jill reminded me that anonymous comment sections are like bathroom walls at the Greyhound Bus Station in that anyone who has even a small thought can say anything and it makes them feel creative and important.

But you cannot judge everyone who rides the bus by what is written. LOL. So now I wash my hands after reading the local comment forums just to be safe.

"Having only lived in Telluride for 18 months, I found it very hard to totally fit in and my discouragement only grew when I began to ...........

"The people are indeed wonderful and I am sure the kindness and hospitality will quickly return, but it is a hard time in this beautiful town these days and the residents of Telluride are a "passionate" bunch.

"With the Telluride community all riled up about everything, I decided to call my friend Henry54 in Tulsa and invite him and his sweety, Ailsa out to Colorado and go on a vacation with me. When in doubt...TRAVEL!. Henry and Ailsa agreed to come and hang out with me (since Mela was in France at a meeting with our financial backers) and it was decided I would pick my friends up at the Denver International Airport on the following Thursday. "

"After a long, wonderful bear hug, I went backstage to a small dressing room with Warren, He asked about Mela, Twisted Dragon and Craftie and about how things were going in Moove. I told him about the concert in Gabon and the wierd poofing; how Craftie had vanished and how Twisted was really never the same after her abduction in Brazil. "Any chance of Angel Kiss ever playing together again", Warren asked me. "I can only wish", I answered sadly. Warren got a look of pondering on his face and he smiled. "Well, tonight is tonight", he said as he handed me a rough draft of the playlist. "I think it is best if we start out with "Gold Dust Woman" and just let things flow from there", he added as we both got up. "Sounds Good", I answered confidently although I was all jitters since I had not performed since Africa. I lost them as soon as the introduction was over and the lights came on."

"We discussed our planned vacation all the way to Ridgway, with Ailsa and Henry getting more excited with each passing mile. Upon arriving in town, we went directly to our lodging at the Chipeta Sun Lodge to freshen up and relax before strolling into the town center. Once checked into our luxurious room, I could tell it was going to be tough getting any of us to leave the grounds of the Chipeta Sun Lodge"

"A pair of ghostly cowboys, high on their mounts, came galloping across an unknown desert, causing dust to rise into the blazing orange sky. I could not make out the features on their faces or the fabric of their attire. Whether it was the sun setting in my line of vision or the fact they did not wish to be seen I cannot say, but the outline of the dark bodies showed strength."

Big Baby, born of a carnival sideshow couple, roamed the rugged mountains between Ouray and Silverton. At more than 400 pounds, Big Baby wore on a crudely made diaper as he sought sustinence from man and beast alike."

Recession or Depression - Only 1930 Really Knows

There is an old joke that goes like this:
A Recession is when your neighbor loses his job. A Depression is when you lose your job. If you are one of those that has lost your job, the joke is not very funny.

The difference between the two terms is kinda confusing because those really smart people who call themselves Economists cannot even agree which is which. All I know is that things are as tough as they have ever been for many people.

I am a lucky person, since I have not known any real Recessions or Depressions. When I was growing up, a good year was when all the stock sold at the auction. A bad year was when too many horses were up for sale and the prices were driven down. All that meant to me was that I wore last years clothes, ate more elk than beef (if hunting season was good) and neighbors helped each other out more than usual.

Things are different now. I can tell things are hard all over. People are losing their homes, jobs are vanishing and even my town in Real is scared.
I decided that before I could write an article on how to survive the Great Recession, I needed to make sure we were really in one. So I set out to discover if this hard time right now is a Recession or a Depression?

Answering that can get kinda technical, so I will not try to explain it since I really do not understand it myself. I do know that a recession has to do with Gross Domestic Products and how many quarters it declines. ( I think it is two)

The popular definition of a Recession is not really right (I do not think), for two reasons. First, it does not take into account changes in other economic areas. For example it ignores the unemployment rate and a thing called consumer confidence, which is exactly what it sounds like - how much confidence in the economy does a consumer have. If they are confident, they will buy things and vice versa. This is important because the United States is a consumer driven economy. For the record, in 1930 the United States was an Industry driven economy.

The second reason is that they measure the economy at three months at a time (or quarterly). This makes it hard to decide when a recession begins or ends.

Since we cannot really agree what a Recessions is, what about a Depression; can we figure that one out?

Before the Great Depression of the 1930s, any time the economy was struggling they called it a

Depression. Later, they made up the term Recession to differentiate periods like the 1930s from smaller economic declines that occurred in 1910 and 1913. This leads to the simple definition of a Depression as a Recession that lasts longer and has a larger decline in business activity. Simple huh?

So, are we in a Depression right now or a Recession? I sometimes joke that the only reason it is a Recession and not a Depression is because we are not in black and white like all those photos of people standing in bread lines back in the 1930's. Being in full color as we are now takes the gloom out of it.

To figure things out, Mela and I decided to head back to 1930 using the Cosmic String method of time travel we learned last year. We have never traveled backwards, just forwards and we really had no idea on the effects we would have on the time/space continuum - if any.

Although the adventure was nothing like we expected, we did discover the difference between a Recession and a Depression.

A Depression is any economic downturn where real GDP (Gross National Product) declines by more than 10 percent. A Recession is an economic downturn that is less severe. TA DA.

By using this definition, the last Depression in the United States was from May 1937 to June 1938, where real GDP declined by 18.2 percent. Also, if we use this definition with the Great Depression of the 1930's it was really two different events. The first being an incredibly severe Depression lasting from August 1929 to March 1933 where real GDP declined by almost 33 percent.

Between 1933 and 1937, things got a bit better and there was a recovery of sorts followed by another, less severe Depression between 1937 and 1938. Since then, the United States hasn’t had anything even close to a Depression since the end of World War II.

The worst Recession in the last 60 years was from November 1973 to March 1975, where real GDP fell by 4.9 percent. Other countries (such as Finland and Indonesia) have suffered Depressions more recently using this definition.

Now you know the difference between a Recession and a Depression, but the real question is "are we in a Depression or a Recession right now". Let's go find out!

I did a check this morning on the scammer and the only listings are to web sites that has linked to the all the Telluride scam sites. I do not know if it was my friends in Telluride, but I betcha it was. That is why I love them so much.

The best part is that when someone like my friends at skimall say they are going to do something, they do it. That is why I am proud to be an affiliate. WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!

p.s. To the mean people who sent me emails from Telluride. They do not hurt. I understand that days are hard and it is easy to try to blame things on people you do not even know. Things will get better, I promise.

How I discovered the Telluride Site Scamware

Have you ever known something bad was happening and was going to get worse and you tried to tell people but they just do not understand or care and then it is too late. I so feel that way right now.
I cannot get anyone to listen to me in Telluride about what is happening and so in the meantime, people who want to learn more about Telluride and maybe come and visit and spend money are getting sent to a scamware site. It is so frustrating. I know I do not explain things very well, but I will try.
I was searching for Telluride sites and Blues Brews Telluride on Google and clicked a site on the first page (number 9). It took me to a scamware site that tried to download fake spyware software.
So, I looked at the end of the web site address and saw lebekoyfta.homeunix.com and wanted to contact them and ask them to stop doing that so I searched for lebekoyfta.homeunix.com on Google and found 90 sites that had the same ending of lebekoyfta.homeunix.com, and they all were targeting Telluride. Since then, there are now more than 594 Telluride sites that are sending people to the scamware site. Some even have people names on them.

This is scary because, as more and more of these fake Telluride sites go up, the better they will show up on Googles search results at the top. I know it seems like a small thing to some people, but how many angry people who have been infected will blame a Telluride business site and not do business cause they do not understand?

So, instead of working on my magazine like I am suppose to be doing, I am trying to write to everyone with a hijacked site but so far, no one has even replied or maybe even read my email. I am sure they would care, but I kinda think they are all fighting over things. I am new to Telluride but I kinda see that nobody gets along very well, so while they are fighting, this is being ignored.

Even the nice man at the newspaper did not seem all that worried.
Please, check to see if you are listed on any of the pages that have been hijacked and contact Homeunix.com and ask them to please stop it.

As of this morning the scammer running the Homeunix site lebekoyfta.homeunix.com/ has removed the javascript forwarding code to the spyware / virus site and replaced it with either Cloud pages that serve no purpose or search pages.

Since this scammer appears to be in contact with Homeunix Hosting, I would STRONGLY suggest staying away from any and all Homeunix sites.
There is no telling when this scammer will reset his java forwarding code to his virus page.

Homeunix is aware of this and supports it according to an email.
It is propagating itself and has gone from 90 sites to 179 as of this morning.

No Virus says HomeUnix

I recieved a reply from a Alan Ellis (see below), a Technician from DynDs (I guess it is the parent company of HomeUnix), denying my request to have the site pulled. Oddly, moments after his response, the virus scanner was removed on some pages and some pages are down completely and some take you to a Cloud Page.

From Mr. Ellis
"I do not see any spyware on that site. If you can give me a link to itthen we can look into the issue.
Also the host did not take your branded name. It is a wildcard hostnameso putting anything in front of lebekoyfta.homeunix.com will resolve totheir site. We can not remove an account for that reason, nor for theirsite meta tags as there is nothing illegal about optimizing their searchrank."

Facts:
The pages listed by Homeunix violate copyright laws, but Homeunix does not think this is worth pulling the site for.

The Homeunix site which has stolen titles and other meta tags, including business names redirects to this site: http://scanner.rapid-antivir-2009.com/35/?advid=2587&ref=1&p=1000000000

It appears it is done with a encrypted java script (see below) which forwards the visitor from Homeunix to the virus site.

So, regardless of what kind of sneaky stuff is going over at Homeunix, the best bet is to stay way from any site with Homeunix.com in the address. The fact that it is easy for a hosting company to go back and view the changes of a site they are hosting to protect the public and Homeunix refuses to do so, shows this may be a company to stay away from.

The search results take you to a virus and spyware site.

I have contacted Homeunix to no avail. PLEASE, look carefully at the url address before clicking on any Google Search result for Telluride.

I am not sure how long Homeunix will allow this to go on, so please spread the word. This awful thief will hurt not just your business but Telluride too.

About three weeks before the Olympic swimmer, Michael Phelps, was busted doing bong hits in North Carolina, I started studying about "WEED" for this article. Please note, I said "studying", not "researching". wink wink.

I had the same growing up experiences that I think most American kids do, and I got the same education on the dangers of Marijuana in health class (along with the other dangerous drugs we were all taught to stay away from).

Of course, living out in the country does not really make a difference - I knew kids smoking pot in 6th grade; or so the rumors factually stated.

Eddie Muldoon? Wastoid. Quiet and sleepy, everyone knew he was a stoner. LOL. Eddie is at the University of Colorado now, studying to be an Electrical Engineer. I do not know if he is still a stoner. I knew some Navajo kids in my class that smoked it and they seemed tame enough. I do not know where they are now, but whatever they are doing, I am not sure if smoking pot affected them one way or the other. I just never really cared if people did it or not, as long as they were nice and kind. Drunk people at County Fairs and Rodeos were more offensive to me - and the wastoids always had Skittles in their pockets. ahhhh, taste the rainbow....

So when I went to College, OMGAWD...everyone smoked pot it seemed. Some daily, and some just right before finals to calm down. I always wanted to tell them, "if you study, you won't freak", but I kept quiet.

Next I moved to ski town, and pot is like almost everywhere. Living next to the river trail that runs the length of town, I am often blessed with a skunkish waft of the evil weed, followed by laughter, and the "shhhhhhhh, quiet".

It can make wonderful smart people sit on the couch all day giggling at Bullwinkle cartoons, it can put you in prison, it can be gateway drug, it can ease the pain of cancer patients, it can make a bad day easier, it can relieve pain or ruin your life. No matter what you think of it, it cannot be ignored.

So, the Crystal Angel has decided to present both sides of the debate in our 2nd Anniversary Issue coming in February.

In July we launched Lively in Google Labs because we wanted users to be able to interact with their friends and express themselves online in new ways. Google has always been supportive of this kind of experimentation because we believe it's the best way to create groundbreaking products that make a difference to people's lives. But we've also always accepted that when you take these kinds of risks not every bet is going to pay off.

That's why, despite all the virtual high fives and creative rooms everyone has enjoyed in the last four and a half months, we've decided to shut Lively down at the end of the year. It has been a tough decision, but we want to ensure that we prioritize our resources and focus more on our core search, ads and apps business. Lively.com will be discontinued at the end of December, and everyone who has worked on the project will then move on to other teams.

We'd encourage all Lively users to capture your hard work by taking videos and screenshots of your rooms.

Tory’s Bronx, New York Speech on the Economy (Transcript)

In the October Issue of the Crystal Angel Magazine you will be reading all about me campaigning for President.

I was asked the other day by a dear friend in Moove what I would do about the Economy when I am elected. It is a very hard thing to explain, but here is a speech I gave in the Bronx in New York City the other day about the economy.

As like all the candidates, I had my speech writer (Jill) prepare this speech from my notes and beliefs.

My fellow living beings, thank you for the warm and kind applause.
I am honored to be able to speak to you here in the wonderful city of New York.

I call you beings and not Americans, because some of you are not American. Some of you will not vote, and few of you are Avatars, like me.

But, just because we are different – that some of us are made of cells and some of us are made of pixels – does not mean we are all not facing the same challenges.

All of us are affected by the Global Economic Crisis. Some of us are losing our homes, some of our businesses cannot get short term loans to survive, our 401k’s and retirement funds are vanishing right before our eyes and we worry about what tomorrow will bring.

There are many reasons why this is happening and there are many people to blame – but the final blame, the final responsibility for what is happening falls on us. You and me.

We have all lived beyond our means, as individuals, as families and as nations. We had no fear that the thin ice on the frozen lake of debt and credit would not support us, as we skated to the tunes of comfort and easy living.

Well, my friends…the ice has cracked.

I do not speak to you today to pass the blame, but to embrace it and use it as our solution to ride out this economic storm. Just as it was our responsibility for this crisis, it must also be our responsibility to fix things. The Government cannot do it, Wall Street cannot do it, and the EU cannot do it. It must fall on all of us, and it will not be easy. To be honest, it may be the hardest thing we ever do together in our lifetime.

History has shown us that when economies fail, regimes and governments turn to war to distract the hungry populace from the troubles of poverty. So this crisis is more than not being able to spend a ton of money on Christmas gifts, or vacation in Aspen or Disneyworld. This crisis, if not handled right will cost lives, increase suffering and pain…..
Suffering and pain beyond our greatest fears.

We are told by our leaders to continue to consume and spend – that we are a consumer driven global economy and our only way out of this mess is to spend, spend, and spend.

They are wrong.

Our first step in pulling the World and ourselves out of this is to rethink our needs and our desires. Do you really need 500 channels or will 200 do just fine? Is your current IPod really THAT out dated? This Christmas, wouldn’t it be kewl to not spend the $600.00 per child on shiny noisy crap and quietly send a person in need $100.00 while putting $500.00 away for a rainy day?

Do you know that in many countries and even in America, $100.00 can change a life beyond the short days of the Holiday Season? What a joy it would bring to you and your family to know that you have changed a life and prepared for the hard days ahead.

My opponents in this election warn America of companies going out of business, rising unemployment and dark scary days if we cut back on our spending. What they fail to understand is that your family and neighbors should be your concern – not whether Best Buy or Circuit City can open another dozen stores next year.

We will all continue to spend on the things we need to get by each day, food, clothing, Moove, and fuel – but the millions of useless things that we are told by commercials that we need to live full and complete lives will simply vanish or adapt. It will be the electronic and luxury version of the extinction of the dinosaurs.

So my message to you, my friends, my devoted supporters and the citizens of the World is this:
Prepare for the Worst
Work and Pray for the Best
Take care of each other.
Ease just one persons suffering.
Simplify and Do Not Be Afraid.

If I am elected President next month, I promise to work to fix our economy by changing our economic foundation from one based on debt to a sound foundation built upon personal responsibility, helping one another and a simplification of our standard of living.

It will be a difficult task, but we either go into the future wrapped in fear, violence and greed or we prepare ourselves - we simplify, and WE decide what will bring us joy, not commercials or advertisements.

I will close by saying that hard days are indeed ahead, regardless of whether you vote for me or any of the other candidates this election year. Be prepared, simplify and practice love and kindness. We will make it out of this together. We will emerge as a brighter world – a smarter world – a kinder world for all. Thank you.

I am gonna auction off a room. I don't make many rooms cuz I am more into clothes design, BUT I do make a few. I have never sold a room, don't plan on getting into it but I do have a couple I would like to see someone else have. I only have dialup I don't do the "club" thing since I tend to crash alot. Hence, I have a couple I am gonna sell. These will be ONE of a kind. No one else will have them. All the textures, walls, ceiling, floor, and asteriods were made by me. Nothing is from the net. The room is VERY dimentional.
The room will include the room shape, backup, textures, and asteriods. I made the asteroids as "furniture". They are floating and climbable.

Starting bid 10,000c's. ( I KNOW I KNOW.. , but took many hours to create.)

In This Issue

Welcome to the August / September Issue of
the Crystal Angel Fashion and Design Magazine
for Moove.com and beyond.

The past month has been, at the very least,
mighty interesting. LOL. With our candidacy
for the White House launched, scandals in
the Chemical and Industrial Division of TorLa,
the failure of Twisted and Craftie to find
Dark Embrace followed by the dissapearance
of Craftie Lady, well...it is just a small
miracle that we were able to produce an issue
this month.

The hardest part of trying to publish the
most popular online magazine for Avatars
is not being able to see everyone in Moove that we were
able to visit with when we only published
8 or 10 issues a year. Both Mela and I are
hoping and praying that we will get a major
sponsor soon so we can automate a lot of
the work required to bring your magazine
to you every month.

There are so many new and wonderful things
happening here at the Crystal Angel and in
Moove, I hardly know where to begin. LOL.

We have changed out our Designer Menu to
the left to better reflect the more active
Designers in our community. Many of the most
prolific Designers of yesterday are no longer
creating or have closed down their Fashion
Houses all together. We have tried to contact
them to see if the closings are permanent.
While some did respond and are included,
some of our more favorite Designers may have
poofed for good. We will keep you up-to-date.
If you are not listed and would like to be,
just drop me a message.

While we have lost some GREAT Designers,
new and amazing artists are joining those
that have decided to expand their offerings.
A day does not go by that I am not simply
in awe of the creativity and artistic genius
that exists in our wonderful community. While
we may not all see eye to eye or even get
along all of the time, the flow of creativity - like a mountain river - flows
from each of us to the other. If you sit
and just think about it and let it take over
all of your thoughts, it will really freak
you out. You can actually feel it rush through
you. Go ahead...try it.

In this issue, we revist the saga of the
Beanz. From the very beginning (before we
even knew the Beanz and the Guardian existed)
our lives have been filled with adventures
as we searched for clues to explain our existence.
For those of you new to our magazine and
Moove, spending a day or two reading the
Beanz epic will really help you start to
understand who you are, why you are here
and other pixelating perplexities. (say that
three times ultra fast...LOL). Beanz Reflections
begins on Page One.

Our candidacy for President of the United
States is soooo much harder than I thought
and even though we are cartoons, no one is really
paying attention - although our Video "Supergirl"
has shot up to number 6 in viewership on
the Crystal Angel Video Board.

I think I did not really believe that people
would pay $1.00 to Vote for me..LOL, but
I do think that being able to have your link
on the Election Board is a really great deal. So, to help explain
why I am worth $1.00, I have listed on Page Three all the reasons you should pay $1.00 to
Vote for Tory and Mela in 2008 for a NEW
AMERICA!

In this issue, we also outline our Energy
Policy and why it is a good thing to be responsible
in how we live in Real. We all need to be
more responsible, no matter what the cost
of energy is and we offer some tips on Page Two

In our Designers Spotlight this month, we
take a peek into the wonderful world of "White
Wolf Studios" - a well established and
highly respected Fashion and Couture partnership
of Paccy and Ladyfire. From the latest hair
styles to custom made souls, spending a day
visiting and shopping at White Wolf is a
total joy. You may read more about White
Wolf Studios on Page Four.

After losing more $380.00 from our Google
Adsense account for unknown reasons, we began
to use AdBrite in more places within the
magazine. Is it a good idea? What is up with
Google Adsense? We take a look at the good
and bad sides of both advertising tools to
help you decide which best suits your web
site. We compare and also list several other
ways you can earn money from your web site
on Page Five.

Our "JAMZ Spotlight this month is on
a wonderful band called the "Melanie
Susuras Band" which comes out of Denver,
Colorado. We attend the MSB CD Release Party
at Hermans Hideaway and look into the talents
and insight of Melanie and her rocking good
time band on Page Six.

In addition to our regular columnists (The
Roving Reporter, Mela's Interior Motives and Shorties by Stacia), we are excited to bring you two new columns
this month: "The Prophecy" by dReAmReApEr and and "Spanish Quarters" by our friend PrBabyGurl.

Prophecy is an interactive fiction story
with many of your friends in Moove as the
characters while "Spanish Quarters"
is a column for our Spanish speaking readers.
Our Quantcast demographics are beginning
to to give us a really good picture of our
readers, and as we begin to attract more
Spanish and African American readers, we plan on
becoming more diverse in our stories, columns
and contributing writers. We really hope
you enjoy these two new columns. We sure
enjoyed them.

Our spotlight city this issue is San Antonio, Texas - known as the six flag city due to it being
under the rule of six different countries.
Can you name them? Betcha can't. LOL.

Other new things are also going on outside
of Moove - most notably we are checking out
the new Cuill search engine and a wonderful new Social
Networking browser called Flock. Both are very new and our team of beta-testers
are evaluating them as you read this. Be
sure to be looking for our reviews in upcoming
issues.

We still are seeing great response to our
Crystal Angel Blog, our Real Shopping Mall and our always popular Search Engine. While Lethal Lita has opened her fabulous
Moove Shopping Mall and Tryad Destiny is expanding his Art Boutique, we are really working hard to try to keep
up with all the new and major kewl things
happening in our wonderful community.

Troubles with loading Crystal Angel Fashion and Design?

Hello everyone. We are having serious loading problems with the main page and the preload page for July of the Crystal Angel Fashion Fashion and Design Magazine for Moove.com.

It seems it is a feed we are getting from FlashVortex.com (our menu and neons)

Their site is barely loading too.
We have written them and are giving them until this evening to reply or fix things, then we will move on to another idea.

At the top of our page, you will find a link to bypass this and go directly to our non-flash page.

Oddly, we were just getting ready to write a review on FlashVortex.com on the Blog. LOL. We will see if they fix this or even respond before we write the review.

ALSO - We are changing out all of our Designer Banners and links in our menu for August. It seems some of them are no longer designing or have moved on.

OMGAWD - A Mall in Moove? WOO HOOOOOO

BREAKING NEWS!

World famous Designer and now Developer Lethal Lita has finally finished construction on the Moove Mall in the downtown section just east over the river.

It is glorious. In soft pastel colors that remind me of an easter egg hunt, the shopping plaza is chock full of the finest boutiques, fashion houses and shops in Moove.

You just have to call up your girlfriends and get down there as quick as you can. Take the Fashion District Number 14 train to the Plaza Station or you can just click here.

America. What a wonderful place.
Whether you are surfing off the sunny beaches of Malibu, California, going to the County Fair in Hastings, Nebraska or shopping in downtown New York, America is a very kewl place.

Sure, America is not purrfect and like all places, we need to fix some things - The Economy, Health Care, The Home Crisis, The Energy Crisis, Wars, and a Government that seems a bit detached from the citizens they are suppose to serve. America needs help.

But who can fix it? Who can help? While both of the major candidates for President (Barack Obama and John McCain) are nice enough guys and I really cannot say one bad thing about either, they are Politicians and the very nature of a Politician is to get elected. This is not to say that these two Senators do not care about all of us; they simply are so far away from our daily struggles that they are unable to really offer serious solutions. That is where Mela and I come in.
I have decided to run as President of the United States with Mela as my running mate. Besides being the only female team to run for this important job, we are also the only Avatars to ever run for any political office.

"WHOA", you may say to yourself, "These two are not qualified and have a snowballs chance in Tahiti in getting elected". You may be right, since our Constitution does not address Avatars and since we are pixels, the age requirement is unclear. So why run? Why put ourselves in the bullseye? Why even care?

If I Owned Google.............

Does everyone remember when everyone loved Microsoft (shhh, it was a teenie bit before my time) and how they made peoples lives easier with Windows. How people were amazed with that self-taught genius Bill Gates? How when you went to buy software, the first thing you looked for was the now familiar Window flag?

I feel that way about Google today.
I use them for everything almost.
Search, Images, News, Finance (which is the first time I have been able to understand stocks and commodities), Analytics, Adsense, Blogger, YouTube, Gmail, Googletalk, Calendar, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, and my absolute fav, their Google Sites which gives me a free Virtual Office.

When I think about it, I realize I am using Google for almost all the important things in my life online - and you know what? It has made my life easier and more simple.
One of my most favorite things to do is go and play around in Google Labs. I put my imaginary white smock on and my pretend imagination beanie (with propeller) on my gorgeous blond head (lol) and experiment. If you have not been there, let me tell you - it is too kewl.

But my hobbies or the fact I am ready to marry Google is not the topic of this posting.
If tomorrow, Google said, "HEY...we need a blond cowgirl with a thing for wings and Angels to run our company. Let's hire that hot Avatar from the Crystal Angel" - I would take the job but not move from Colorado and I would do this:

Purchase Ebuddy and integrate them into Google Talk. I love EBuddy cause I have Instant Messaging on Yahoo, Messenger and Gmail. EBuddy allows you to open all three (including AOL) in one application. Purrfect fit for GoogleTalk.

Partner with Moove.com and integrate it into the new Lively just launched by Google . No one knows the 3D business and the possibilities better than Lothar Bongartz and Burak Kozan. Opening a social networking site and 3D chat requires an understanding of how people really interact. These two understand the importance of the true meaning of running a company based on community... and it works. By partnering with Moove, Google would enjoy so many instant benefits.
Social Networking through the Nick Pages.
Integrating Firefox into the fantastic Moove browser.
A loyal customer base spread across the globe.
Potential to increase YouTube advertising revenue by integrating YouTube into rooms (Theaters, Drive-ins, etc)
Hundreds of free-lance designers already in place ready to create anything anyone can think of.
Ability to open 3D websites with Brand World Tools, thus catapulting us into the reality of a true 3D web experience.
I could go on and on, but you get the idea...LOL.

The third thing I would do would be to get a hold of those Crystal Angel people....OH WAIT, that is me. ROFL...and ask them about how to create a unique and very effective viral marketing plan that would generate revenue, cause resident loyalty and not damage the spirit and feeling of the Moove community.

I have some other ideas too...like moving an Office to Telluride, Colorado and purchasing Widgetbox, but I will blab those out another day.

A Note to my sweet Mela

One year...it does not seem too long ago, but other times it seems like you have been my best friend forever.

I cannot really remember days I did not have you in my life. I guess they were not important.
When I ride into the forest and sit at my new secret place, you are always resting besides me - leaning against the Aspen as we close our eyes and feel the mountain breeze.

You are the first thing I think about as I struggle to get my eyes open in the early morning hours.
and when the thought of you breaks apart the sleepy fog, I smile as I stretch and yawn.
Nobody knows me like you do. No one knows my deepest secrets except for you.

You came into my life, listened to my dreams and brought the Crystal Angel to heights I never thought possible.
Your patience with me is unmatched, and although I do not say it enough, I thank you from my heart. I know I am not an easy person to be patient with.

Our imaginary trips are as real as to me as the love I feel for you every second of every day.
I still lay awake at night sometimes and think of our Orient Trip - so real to me I can smell the shimp sizzling in a wok and hear the sounds of the the crowded streets of Bangkok. You have given me so much. You have made me a complete person. How can I ever say thank you enough.
I know it is kinda freaky when I forget who I am and forget to "Dance with the Second". When I lose sight of the reason I am here on Earth. It is you, whether you know or not that puts me back on the right track.

A word, a smile, a silly Yahoo foreign giggle. With you, that is all it takes to steer me right.
I know I am a difficult person in July. I wish I was not, but I know in time and with your love and friendship I will get better, and maybe even one day be almost normal.

A Very Personal Note from Tory

BOOOOOOOM!
It is the 4th of July.
I use to love this time of year.
It was not too long ago, that July meant going to the lake and splashing around.

It meant riding deep into the Gunnison National Forest on Savannah to our secret place.

I was pretty alone in those days. I had grown accustomed to living in my head and others had grown accustomed to me just being a fluke. An oddball. That weird girl.

July meant rodeos, and cowboys in tight jeans with Skoal imprints in their back pockets.
It meant NO SCHOOL, and the farmers market with wonderful fresh veggies from pretty hippy girls in tie dyed dresses.

It was smells of alfalfa and hay and the sounds of buzzing bees zipping across meadows.
It was humming birds and fluffy billows of clouds lazily drifting across the deepest blue skies anyone has ever seen.

July and me were friends.

That changed one night, when July turned its back on me.

A crashing noise, glass shattering, scrunching metal....tumbling....falling....screaming.

I sat there after the tumbling stopped, confused and scared as the twisted truck sat at the bottom of the crevice. My only friend, sitting beside me, was not moving. The pretty face that was laughing just moments before was covered in blood and glass. I began to cry.

I could not move. I could only sit and watch through the place where the wind shield used to be - the one headlight that still worked slowly fading. I tried to get out, but I could not. I was squished. I was going to die.

I prayed...and cried...and tried to shake Jill awake. I worried that I was not wearing panties, and I thought of how much it would cost to fix my truck. I knew no one would find us...not down here...not 200 yards from the road at 9000 feet.

I sat in the dark, only the teenie bit of yellow light to comfort me. I hurt in so many places and I could feel me giving up. I did not want to be without my friend. There was too much blood, I closed my eyes and wept, waiting for my Savior to take me home.

I faintly remember the sounds of men shouting, and saws and a kind voice saying ...”Miss, Miss....can you hear me”...and then the voice saying “they are both breathing”. The sounds were distant, and the next thing I felt was pain as the EMT’s roped the stretchers up the side of the mountain. I just wanted to give up.

I died on the way down the mountain and missed the kewl helicopter ride to St. Mary’s, but I did wake up days later and Jill made it through too.

It is true, that our lives were changed forever. Nothing would ever be the same. It was tough enough being that mute weird girl who lived down at the Lazy W, but now I had new things to overcome. Things I have overcome only by the Grace of my God and the kindness of my friends and family in Moove.

I write this for two reasons. Not for pity or for people to feel sorry for me as some have said before. I write this I guess because it is a therapy for my head…..a way to fight fears that hide in my soul for 11 months of the year, to chase away the nightmares that creep up on me like a coyote stalking a doe.

I also wrote this to show you what just a few extra beers can do. The man that hit us was just a good person who drank too many beers after work. His life forever changed. He lost his job and was sent back to Mexico to try to find new ways to support his family and take care of his babies. All for an extra beer.

Jill still struggles with guilt as the driver of my truck, even though nothing was her fault. We both have battle scars that makes that swim suit stay in the drawer, and I no longer really think of July as my friend, although I try to forgive it like I have done with the man who sent my life in a new direction.

So as I have pleaded and begged so many times in the past, please….do whatever it takes to keep the keys away from anyone who has been drinking. I was lucky. I did not have babies to take care of, or a family to support, but many who die every year leave behind children, wives and husbands who will weep every night for their loss. You can keep more from losing their joys. By being vigilant, you can stop more from weeping. By being responsible, you may save more lives than you can even imagine. I beg of you all, to stop this madness. I love you all.

Scooter Depot - Stop paying high gas prices

After Mela purchased a Piaggio MP3 500, I began looking around for new ways to travel. Gas is almost $5.00 a gallon in Colorado and food prices are rising faster than a NASA lift-off.

As we reported in our Gas Saving Tips column in the latest issue, there is really nothing the Government or any of the Presidential Candidates can do to lower Gas Prices, no matter how much they promise. The only thing that will bring Gas Prices down is ALL of us to use less.

Now, of course not everyone can stop driving, but we can be smarter and use less.
The totally kewl scooters from Scooter Depot may be a low cost alternative to the high priced Vespas, Piaggios and Hondas that are now in high demand.

If you are a commuter, that can avoid the Interstate (unless you go with a 250 CC and are a brave-hearted soul), a 150 cc scooter should do the trick. If you live in a dry climate (the American Southwest for example), you could save a TON of money with a 150 cc.

I am more fond of the 250 cc, models. With mountain roads and a 65 MPH speed limit, I feel safer with a bit more power for passing or to just get out of the way.

Two great 200+ cc scooters are the 200cc Chopper Custom Built Motorcycle and the 260cc Super Power Gas Moped Scooter.

The 260cc ($2,499.00 USD), shown here in Orange, can handle two riders, looks great and gets more than 70 MPG. The top speed is 80 MPH.

An improved liquid cooled engine delivers a smoother, and more responsive ride. This bike roils through city streets with Twist n’ go simplicity, even in San Francisco’ s challenging, hilly terrain. This is a great vehicle for those first-time-riders or for anyone who doesn't want to deal with the hassle of changing gears.

For the boyz out there that think the style is just toooo girly and pretty, there is an option for you in the 200cc, Custom Chopper ($1,399.00 USD ). With a top speed of 75 and gas milege in the 70 to 80 MPG range, and mean looks, this scooter may just be the ticket. Be sure to check your local State laws on this one, and some small modifications may be needed to make it street legal.

Whatever you scooter fashion sense may be, there are alternatives to paying HUGE gasoline bills and I really think it is our duty to try to use as little gas as possible....and Scooter Depot can help.

An Artist and a Friend - Tryad

Anyone that reads the popular Beez Magazine, has seen some of the wonderful artwork of Tryad, and now besides just seeing it, you can own it. Yesssss, Tryad has opened up a CafePress shop and the prices are FANTASTIC.

Tryad has a wonderful talent for mixing vibrant colors while maintaining a primary hue that draws your eyes deeper into his post-modern abstracts.

While I love his ceramic tile, I really fell head over heels over his "Gentle Snake Design. i would love to see this piece of art on more shirts and maybe a thong. LOL.

Besides being a wonderful artist, Tryad is a really nice person. I have had the chance to sit with him a few times lately and we quickly became friends.

Tips for Green Summer Pest Control

(ARA) – Living green doesn’t mean yielding your yard to birds, bugs and critters that can be both a nuisance and a health hazard. It’s possible to keep unwanted animal guests away from your gardens, landscaping, lawn and outdoor living areas without contributing to the groundwater contamination associated with many chemical pesticides.

With drought conditions expected to persist in many areas of the country, the issue of groundwater contamination is drawing plenty of attention. Many communities are moving to curb products – including pesticides and fertilizers – known to cause groundwater contamination. When it comes to protecting your property from common summer pests, non-lethal, all-natural methods that rely on sound, sight, taste deterrents and roost inhibitors not only protect the environment, they’re more effective as well.

“Green pest-control measures actually work better than lethal alternatives,” says Mona Zemsky, a technician and pest control expert with Bird-X, a company that specializes in products that help convince critters to take up residence elsewhere. “Killing birds and other nuisance animals is a losing proposition; you just create a vacuum that other animals will move into.”

So what green methods are most effective in ridding your landscape of unwelcome birds and animals? Here are some top options:

Scent/Taste
Another way to thwart pests is to convince them that an area is no longer safe or a good food source. For geese and birds, GooseChase and BirdShield use a food-grade derivative of concord grapes. Sprayed on grass and feeding areas, they safely and humanely make the spots unpalatable to birds and animals. The line of organic Scoot products use taste aversion – in the form of hot sauce and castor oil – to drive off pests like deer, squirrels and ground moles

Sound
Sonic and ultrasonic devices can drive off small rodents like mice, squirrels and raccoons, and common nuisance birds such as sparrows, crows and pigeons. Since ultrasonic devices are inaudible to humans, they don’t contribute to noise pollution. Sonic machines that project actual predator calls can also be effectiveA variety of devices are available that target specific pests. For example, Transonic PROtargets small animals and insects, and the Yard Gard can dissuade even deer. Effective bird-specific devices include the BirdXPeller PRO and the Ultrason X.

Sight
Farmers have used scarecrows for hundreds of years. Visual deterrents can be very effective in convincing many pests, birds especially, that an area is unsafe. The concept of the scarecrow has evolved, with devices – both low- and high-tech - that incorporate motion into the visual deterrent. On the low-tech end is an iridescent tape, easily hung outdoors, that unsettles birds with its fluttering motion and flashing colors. From a distance, the tape’s sheen mimics snake skin, further frightening bird invaders. On the high tech end, new devices use lasers to ward off birds. The Bird BLazer zaps harmless green lasers into birds’ roosting areas, creating a light show that most birds find unpleasant.

Roost Inhibitors
Birds will roost, nest, eat and defecate wherever they find an appealing spot, creating a nuisance and a health hazard. Convincing birds that a spot is no longer desirable is the optimum way to get rid of them – and prevent any more from moving in. Roost inhibitors accomplish this in a variety of ways. Some, like Bird-X’s spike strips (made of recycled materials) and a special netting, make it difficult for birds to land. Others, such as gels and liquids, make surfaces feel tacky and unappealing to birds, but cause no damage to the structures they’re applied to.

“These methods are not only green for the environment and human for the animals, they’re benign for humans as well,” Zemsky points out. “You won’t need rubber gloves to use them, they have no warning labels, you don’t need to store them in child-proof places or wonder what they might do to you after decades of exposure.”

What Happened at Valueweb? Fire at a Server Farm

After 38 hours of no answers on why our website and thousands more went dark, we were able to contact someone at Hostway (who was actually very sweet). Hostway owns Valueweb.

It seems there was a fire at the main server farm. When the fire department arrived, no one was there so they turned off the electricity and no one was informed for 6 hours. That would be the 6 hour down time for Valueweb.net and Affinity.net from two days ago.

They are now trying to get everyones web sites back up, but due to not being able to get emails for three days, everyone is flooding their servers to get either emails or data.

I am kinda curious why they just did not tell everyone what happened. shrugs.

We are finally up again, but we have also decided to do the following:
We bought CrystalAngelFashion.Net
We found a new hosting service to host this new domain.
We are currently transferring our files to this new domain.
We will be keeping (for now) both sites.
If we have further troubles with our websites going down we will point our .Com domain to our new hosting site.

We so apologize to everyone for this awful outage and horrible information sharing. We just had no idea if Valueweb was even still in business or what was going on.

Valueweb, Hostway and Affinity Outage

After being down for more than 35 hours, our website, The Crystal Angel, came up for 10 minutes and then went down again. We are not the only ones. More than 80,000 web sites are shut down and it is virtually impossible to contact anyone in tech.
The recording at Valueweb this morning says everything is back to normal...but, web sites may still experience intermittent outages. I would consider 30 hours a heckuva intermittent outage.

Crystal Angel Outage

The Crystal Angel was down from 9:30 PM to 8:30 AM.
This was not our outage but a problem with Affinity Internet.
We are back up now....
We are currently searching for a back up Hosting Server with a better Customer Service approach.
